Kheirè, from the Greek for “Welcome”, is a Organic Grillo Reserve which pays homage to Magna Graecia. It is born near the WWF oasis that gives the company its name, combining solar energy with the sea breeze in an elegant and distinctive glass.
A structured white capable of enhancing the finest flavours of the sea. It is the ideal companion for premium fish dishes, carpaccio, shellfish, and smoked fish. It also pleasantly surprises alongside flavourful grilled vegetables and white meat main courses. To fully appreciate its aromatic breadth, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 10 °C.
Everything begins in 2006, a fundamental year for the history of Gorghi Tondi Estate. It is in this harvest, in fact, that the first vintage of the estate's white crus comes to life, giving birth to what will become the family's first and most important white wine.
From the very choice of its name, this organic Grillo Riserva carries a profound message. In ancient Greek, “Kheirè”literally means “Welcome”. It is a tribute to Sicily's millennia-old history and to the era when the island shone as an integral part of glorious Magna Graecia. But above all, it is a celebration of the island's proverbial and warm hospitality, of a land that has always been a crossroads of great peoples and diverse cultures. The Sala family wanted the very name of this label to be an anthem to welcome, a wish for happiness, and a sincere invitation to share.
Behind the evocative name lies an ambitious production project, aimed at showcasing the extraordinary vocation of the Grillo grape variety. The Kheirè is born from the best selection of Grapes from historic vineyards of around 30 years old, cultivated on calcareous-sandy soils overlooking the Mediterranean Sea directly.
To confer upon this white the structure, elegance and longevity that distinguish it, the company has studied a meticulous refinement process: after a period in steel on its fine lees, a selected portion of the wine (around 35%) matures in new French oak barriques for 8 months, before being reunited with the main blend and resting further in bottle.
The result is much more than a wine: Kheirè is the liquid testament to an ancient past, an embracing glass that holds within it all the radiant energy of the Sicilian sun and the unmistakable delicacy of the sea breeze.
Choosing Kheirè means embracing the very essence of the biological and sustainable philosophy of the Gorghi Tondi Estate. Born from the best grapes of the estate overlooking the sea, It is a multi-award-winning wine from international wine critics., a guarantee of absolute artisanal quality. A wine that encapsulates not only the typicality of Grillo, but also the value of Sicilian welcome and pure hospitality.
