The “Family wine” dedicated to Michele and Doretta. A pure organic Catarratto that expresses the freshness and authenticity of our Sicilian terroir.

Tasting Notes

  • Smell On the nose, it presents itself as intense and wonderfully fragrant. There are crisp notes of citrus and white flowers, with the delicate and elegant scent of elderflower prevailing, alongside a subtle hint of sea breeze.
  • Taste: In the glass, it presents a bright straw-yellow with greenish reflections. On the palate, it is enveloping, very fresh, rich, and characterised by an excellent and pleasant persistence that invites further drinking.

Recommended Pairings

A white that beautifully enhances the lightness and flavours of seafood cuisine. Try it paired with roasted or marinated octopus, and with the freshest grilled fish. It is also excellent and surprising when served with gratinéed crêpes. To fully appreciate its floral nuances, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 8-10 °C.

The History of Wine: Midor

Midor is not simply a wine, but represents the liquid guardian of the memories and most intimate affections of Tenuta Gorghi Tondi. It was, in fact, conceived as the true “family wine” and its very name reveals its profound meaning: “Midor” is born from the loving union of the names Michele Sala and Doretta Tumbarello, the parents of Annamaria and Clara and founders of the company. This label is a devoted tribute to roots, a glass that sincerely tells of bonds, identity, and a sense of belonging.

To honour such an important dedication, the enological choice fell upon one of the historic and most representative white grape varieties of Sicilian viticulture: Catarratto, here vinified strictly in purity. The production intent was to capture the authentic soul of the territory and provide a faithful and contemporary interpretation of the island: a flavourful, fresh and fragrant wine, whose aromas immediately evoke the Mediterranean light, the sapidity and the breath of the coastal wind.

The sunny and convivial spirit of this family dedication is also masterfully expressed through its visual design. Part of the evocative company line called “Maioliche” (officially launched at Vinitaly in 2018), Midor sports a label that openly celebrates the island's art and culture. Its colourful graphics are indeed inspired by the classic, ancient geometries of Caltagirone ceramics, transforming the bottle into a tribute to beauty, the joy of sharing at the table, and unconditional love for one's family and homeland.

Why choose Midor by Tenuta Gorghi Tondi?

Choose the Midor It means bringing the intimate story of the Sala family and the very soul of the company to the table. It is an organic wine (also VIVA certified) which offers a faithful and emotional reading of the Catarratto grape, ideal for those looking for an approachable Sicilian white, but possessing great identity, conviviality, and a strong connection to the land.
