The most faithful expression of our 2022 Catarratto vintage, unadulterated. An identity wine that speaks of the energy of the sea and the Mediterranean light.
A great companion for Mediterranean flavours and light cuisine. It pairs perfectly with marinated or roasted octopus, grilled white fish, and delicate first courses featuring vegetables. Serve chilled, at a temperature of 8-10 °C, to preserve its aromatic fragrance intact.
Midor has always been the liquid custodian of memory and the most intimate affections of Tenuta Gorghi Tondi. Conceived as the true “family wine”, its very name reveals a deep meaning: it was born from the union of the names of Michele Sala and Doretta Tumbarello, founders of the company and parents of Annamaria and Clara. It is a devoted homage to roots, a glass that sincerely tells of bonds and love for one's land.
To honour such an important dedication, the oenological choice fell to Catarratto, a historic grape variety and undisputed symbol of Sicilian viticulture, grown organically and vinified in purity. However, the 2022 vintage represents an even deeper, more meditative and surprising expression of this label.
Compared to tradition, the Midor 2022 has indeed undergone a truly unique refining process. After the first 5 months of resting in steel on the fine lees, the Sala family chose to wait, allowing the wine to rest and mature for a full 18 months in the bottle before its commercialisation. Time, the true cellar master, has transformed the natural freshness of the grape variety, bestowing upon it a fascinating evolution: this long ageing has gifted the wine decidedly more complex and sophisticated fragrant notes, in which hints of citrus and elderflower blend with an uncommon richness and mouthfeel.
To crown the identity of this special vintage is its visual design. A proud exponent of the “Maioliche” line, Midor 2022 sports a label that openly pays homage to the island's art, drawing inspiration from the classic geometries and colours of traditional Sicilian ceramics. A wine that, in this specific version, beautifully demonstrates how patience and love for family can transform into absolute elegance.
The 2022 vintage has gifted this iconic Sicilian grape variety a profile of extraordinary territorial fidelity. Purchasing this vintage means securing a sincere and versatile organic wine, far from ordinary, capable of combining the elegance of careful craftsmanship with the pleasure of pure table sharing.
