Born in 2011, Palmarès, It is a Charmat Method sparkling wine made from organic Grillo grapes. The gift-boxed Magnum format enhances its elegance and freshness, evoking the Mediterranean sea breezes.
A perfect bubbly for moments of lightheartedness and conviviality. It is excellent as a classy aperitif and pairs beautifully with fish-based starters, fresh crudités, seafood, and shellfish. To fully enjoy its elegance, serve at a temperature of 6-8 °C.
2011 marked a true milestone for Tenuta Gorghi Tondi: it was the year the winery decided to try its hand at sparkling wine production, officially bringing the Sala family's bubbles to life. The idea behind this Martinotti Method (or Charmat) sparkling wine was as simple as it was ambitious: to demonstrate the extraordinary versatility of Grillo, the most typical and precious white grape of the region, transforming this indigenous vine into an elegant bubbly, capable of being a global ambassador for Sicily's sparkling wine potential.
To christen this new project, a Latin word with a powerful and unequivocal meaning was chosen: “Palmarès,” which means “worthy of victory.” The genesis of this name is linked to an intimate family anecdote: Michele Sala, the company's founder, shared a great passion for Formula 1 with his daughter Clara. It was during the viewing of a televised awards ceremony at the end of a race, while still searching for the right name for the new sparkling wine in the cellar, that the word "palmarès" – used to indicate a driver's list of victories – struck them as the perfect choice to embody the ambitious spirit of the project.
To win this oenological challenge, the company has rigorously selected organic grapes from a unique vineyard, capable of combining two opposite and complementary souls of the Mazara del Vallo landscape: on one hand, the protected and unspoiled hinterland of the WWF Nature Reserve “Lago Preola and Gorghi Tondi”, on the other, the constant breath of the sea and its fresh, iodine-laden breezes.
Today, this sparkling wine is the emblem of celebration and excellence at Gorghi Tondi, a liquid tale of a challenge overcome that celebrates a love for nature and the authentic joy of togetherness. And it is precisely to honour the grandeur of this “victory” that the Magnum (1.5 litre) format, presented in a gift box, represents its ultimate and most prestigious expression, conceived to accompany the most important and memorable toasts.
The Magnum format (1.5 litres) is the perfect refuge for wine, ensuring excellent evolution. Choosing this format means bringing the pure vocation of western Sicily to your glass. Produced with 100% organic Grillo grapes%, it is the expression of a unique terroir and is the ideal gift to give thanks to its refined and prestigious presentation box.
