Rajàh, the “Prince”, pays tribute to the Arab history of Mazara del Vallo And the history of Sicilian viticulture. An organic dry Zibibbo that reveals its Sicilian-Tunisian heritage in the glass, with intoxicating aromatic notes and ancient charm..
A white wine capable of enhancing intense flavours: it pairs perfectly with savoury cheeses, crustaceans and roasted fish, particularly prawns and lobster. Also excellent for balancing spicy and seasoned dishes, or served with a refined foie gras pâté. It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 8-10 °C.
The story of Rajah begins in a pivotal year for Tenuta Gorghi Tondi: the memorable 2006 harvest, which marked the absolute debut of the estate's white crus. From the very first moment, the Sala family wanted this dry, pure Zibibbo to be much more than just a wine: it was to be a liquid bridge between different cultures.
The word “Rajah” actually means “Prince” of Eastern kingdoms. It is a stated homage to the history of Arab domination in Sicily and, in particular, to the soul with strong Sicilian-Tunisian duality that characterises the city of Mazara del Vallo. Zibibbo itself is a vine that arrived on the island from the sea via the Mediterranean basin; vinifying it in a dry version, capable of releasing intoxicating scents of orange blossom and jasmine, means returning to the glass the evident heritage of a glorious and regal past.
But the profound identity of this wine is also masterfully revealed through its visual project. The label of Rajàh is dominated by an unmistakable icon: the Nautilus shell. This graphic choice is not just an aesthetic tribute to the sea that bathes the estate, but tells the very heart of the terroir. In fossil form, in fact, the nautilus is one of the essential elements that make up the calcareous soil of the Gorghi Tondi vineyards, and it is precisely this that gives this wine its unmistakable mineral drive.
In addition, the shell's fascinating spiral shape represents the celebrated “golden ratio,” an ancient numerical proportion that in nature and art embodies absolute beauty, perfection, and renewal. A perfect symbol for a “Prince” come from the sea, born to enchant the senses.
It’s a true sensory journey into the island's history. Choosing this Zibibbo in its dry and organic version means bringing the elegance of a regal interpretation to the table, boasting absolute uniqueness for its palatable pleasure and bouquet intensity.
